The Kensington Partners with HFC to Support Alzheimer’s Caregivers

At Kensington Senior Living, we are thrilled to have partnered with HFC, Rivet Revolution, and Home Instead Senior Care for the HFC We Care Campaign to support these caregivers.

Family caregivers often feel isolated, exhausted, and in need of support because caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s is a full-time, unpaid job.

For these reasons, we understand the importance of the organization founded by Seth Rogan and Lauren Miller Rogan — Hilarity for Charity (HFC). HFC is on a mission to provide these family caregivers with proper support and resources.

The HFC We Care Campaign

The campaign exceeded its fundraising goal, reaching a total of $73,000 through the help of many donors, including those within our own Kensington community.

Kensington Senior Living offered an additional $3,200 in matching dollars to bring the campaign match total to $28,200. These matching donations helped to double each dollar that was given, up to the matching amount.

The donations allow HFC to boost support programs and caregiver respite grants to give caregivers the relief they truly deserve. One hundred percent of the donations will fund HFC care and support programs that provide critical relief to Alzheimer’s family caregivers.

Working swiftly in response to the coronavirus pandemic and in real-time to care for caregivers, HFC quickly expanded its online caregiver support programs by 55% to meet family members’ growing needs. It also added over 50 drop-in support groups, care focused webinars, and panel discussions to help family caregivers find relief when they needed it most.

Since March, at least 1 in 5 of HFC’s Caregiver Respite Grant applicants shared that the pandemic has created new challenges in caring for their loved ones. HFC was a life-line for them.

HFC’s Mission and Work

HFC is a national non-profit organization, founded in 2012, whose mission is to care for families facing this disease, educate young people about living a brain-healthy life, and activate the next generation of Alzheimer’s advocates.

It’s work accelerates progress in Alzheimer’s care, prevention, and support through comedy and by shining light on the Alzheimer’s space. Through its ongoing support, more than $13 million has been raised and more than 29,000 hours have been awarded of in-home care relief to Alzheimer’s family caregivers through its North American Caregiver Respite Grant Program.

In addition to providing caregiver respite, HFC organizes online support groups to build caregiver community and connectivity, engages young people across the country to become Alzheimer’s advocates, funds prevention-focused and brain-health research, and teaches people how to care for the health of their brains today, so they can reduce their risk tomorrow.

The Kensington Redondo Beach Values Those Fighting Alzheimer’s

As a partner to both of our seniors and their families, The Kensington Redondo Beach wanted to do our part in supporting HFC, as we align with its mission and understand how important it is to support our caregivers.

We appreciate all that HFC and the many donors are doing to bring light to Alzheimer’s. The HFC We Care Campaign communicates to family caregivers that they are also healthcare heroes, and we value their wellbeing during these difficult times.

The Kensington Promise

At The Kensington Redondo Beach, we promise to love and care for your family as we do our own.

The Kensington is a unique memory care community where state-of-the-art Alzheimer’s therapies are provided. We create individualized service plans that are specially tailored to each resident based on their individual desires and needs – not only physical, but also cognitive, and spiritual, as we believe each to be of equal importance. To enrich our residents’ lives we offer:

  • Regular family nights
  • Regular support groups facilitated by our Director of Family Services
  • Art and music therapy
  • Pocket Programming (Specialized small-group activities)

We also provide specialized Memory Care Communities. We believe that each resident deserves to live in a community that is best for them and their individual degree of memory loss. To ensure that our residents receive the most beneficial and appropriate care for their personal circumstances, we distinguish our community into two different “neighborhoods.”

Though Alzheimer’s can be a tough journey, it is one that your family doesn’t need to go through alone. At The Kensington Redondo Beach, we are proud to serve as your caregiver-partner so that your time spent with your loved one can be more enjoyable. Your loved one is in compassionate, capable, and professional hands.

If your loved one has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and is experiencing memory loss – no matter the stage – The Kensington Redondo Beach is here to help.
