The Kensington Redondo Beach Testimonials

Testimonials

We promise to love and care for your family as we do our own.

We are proud to share the feedback from some of our families and residents.

The Kensington is worth every penny. Our family had decided on a community that was a couple of thousand dollars cheaper than the Kensington in 2020. The old adage of “you get what you pay for” is absolutely true. The first community we used sounded great but couldn’t deliver due to understaffing. poor internal and external communication, and the lack of staff training.

The Kensington promised that they would take care of our mother as if she were their family member. We came into The Kensington with a lot of reservations. But, they have honored every promise that they made. Our mother has been residing at the Kensington since early October 2020. This is our experience.

Executive Director – Robert is welcoming and responsive to family questions and concerns. He is not only highly engaged in the operation of the community, he converses and makes connections with the residents and their families. He is an excellent communicator and runs an efficient, expertly staffed, warm community.

Concierge – The phones or staffed appropriately. I can always get through to The Kensington. The staff is friendly, caring, efficient, and reliable. Phone messages are passed on to different departments and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.

Medical Staff – There are 3 RN’s, Julie, Amy, and Sydney. There is always an RN on site. There are 24 LVN’s. And CNA care-givers. All of the medical staff have appropriate training. The internal communication between day and night staff is excellent. The medical notes are charted and referred to for changes in physical or emotional well-being. The medical staff are approachable and helpful in explaining their observations and the care being given to our mother. They are professional, caring, and helpful in helping family members obtain the appropriate medical care needed.

Director of the Memory Care – Lorrie. She runs an excellent department, staffing the unit appropriately for all the needs of the residents, keeping the residents’ well-being at the forefront of decisions made to help them have a quality life with appropriate activities and care. Lorrie has addressed every concern; she is thorough and helpful in our journey through dementia with our mother. Keith is the assistant. He is doing the job he was made to do. He has genuine care and concern for each resident as he strives to connect to each resident.

Activities Department – This staff has had a tremendous task because of COVID restrictions. Every day, there are on-going activities for the residents in Haven (moderate-severe dementia residents). Because family visitations were restricted, the team has worked very hard to keep the residents engaged and enjoying a quality of life. They facilitate family google-duo chats to keep the residents connected to their families. They send emails, texts, and post photos on slack, so that family can see how their loved ones spend their day.

Care-givers – Most of the time, our family talks to Cristal and Flo. They know our mother well, and they are very patient and kind as they spend their day with mom. My mother reports that everyone is kind and good here. They give her, her dignity and value her life in the community.

Moving in – Pat was the point person for the move-in. She is warm and caring. She helps the family through the difficulties, the sadness, and the transition to a loving place. She takes care of all the details and makes the move-in an experience that honors each resident, by tailoring it to each family.

If at all possible, spend the extra money and receive the care that is the type that you would give your own family member.”

“There are not enough words to describe how amazing The Kensington is. My friend, who is like a second mom to me, moved here after being in a few other facilities. Truly, no other Alzheimer’s/senior care community can compare. The staff to resident ratio is unmatched, and you really feel the love that the staff has for each of the residents. During these scary and unpredictable times, the one thing I can be sure of is that my mom is well cared for.

When my family and I first decided to move my mom here, we were blown away with warm reception we received. This impression was not fleeting; the staff continuously makes us feel like we are, in a way, home. They’re always welcoming, inviting, and encouraging us to come to the commnuity’s events so that we can partake in the fun and love that makes The Kensington what it is. The staff is also incredibly accommodating when I wish to celebrate special events with my mom. They graciously helped plan a small get-together for my mom and her friends and even made them their own special meal. The most beautiful thing about The Kensington is that they strive to make sure that your loved ones are able to live with the quality they deserve. As my mom has Alzheimer’s, our time together may be short, but The Kensington is dedicated to making sure that the time we have left is filled with joy and love. Thank you, Kensington staff. We are truly blessed to be part of the Kengsination.”

“The Kensington Redondo Beach is a beautiful assisted living place with beach style decor. They also have fresh flower arrangements every day.  My dad is in his 90’s and the day came when my dad was going to be moved in. He and our family were greeted at the front door while the staff were all clapping and cheering when he walked in with his walker. He smiled! We knew he was going to be taken care of. He loves his room and the staff makes him feel like home. The staff and care is beyond outstanding. The dining room serves delicious food and dad is greeted with his favorite dessert of vanilla ice cream and a warm chocolate chip cookie right after his meal. The staff goes the extra mile to provide excellent service! He has been living there for almost nine months now.  He says, “You could not pick a better place.” He has enjoyed activities and entertainment.  He goes out in the courtyard to read his L.A. Times (sports section). Our visits with him is great! The staff has worked many hours caring for our loved ones. Their support, medical care, kindness, and professionalism is remarkable. We thank you so much for all the time you do for all the residents and honor you with our greatest gratitude.”

“I searched for several months and visited a several facilities, before moving my sister into the Kensington 7 months ago. I have been extremely pleased with the community. The staff is always so nice and pleasant, you can tell they all love what they do. They go above and beyond and have so much patience. The staff, manager, and nurses contact me on a regular basis and keep my updated on how she is doing. My sister is only 71 and has dementia and I was so guilt ridden about placing her in a home. I was very fortunate that she has never asked why is she there or when is she going home. But I am very happy to say she is always smiling and enjoys all the staff. Unfortunately, a little over 2 months ago, the Kensington was affected by the corona virus, as so many senior living facilities have been. They have been great about keeping us updated and are doing their best in keeping things under control. Some staff even moved in there for a few months to help with the spread. I would highly recommend the Kensington to anyone considering a place for their loved one.

Mom moved into Kensington about a week after they opened.  It was the best thing I could have done for her.  She has been suffering from Dementia for a few years and her previous community although good, was not even close to the same care she received at Kensington.  The staff is what makes any community special and she responded immediately to the extra care she received.  Everyone treated mom with such great respect and kindness, and it offered me great piece of mind.  I lost my mom in early April but I know she had the best care possible in the 8 months she was with the Kensington family!!”

“We think it was the best suite in the whole place and had hoped that my dad would have had many happy years there, but God had other plans.  We are thankful for the happy months that he did have in his new home.  His final journey was spent surrounded by his extended Kensington family who cared so much for him and it was such a blessing that my brother and I were at his side when he passed.  My dad and all of his family LOVED the Kensington and the Kensington Family.  We are really going to miss seeing all of you and spending time at Happy Hour, sharing a wonderful meal and sitting on my dad’s patio.  You all really lived up to your promise to love and care for our family as you do your own.
