Testimonials

We promise to love and care for
your family as we do our own.

“Over a year ago, my mom transitioned from in-home caregivers to the Kensington. As I was moving overseas, finding the right place for her was essential. The Kensington exceeded all expectations.

The Kensington went above and beyond to accommodate an early move-in. They encourage family engagement at the facility, be it for meals, celebrating milestones, or just making it easy to stop by. The staff is always accessible from the Executive Director on down, and when I visit, they stop by to talk and check in. My mom loves the many special events to Kensington holds for residents be it bring in Irish dancers for Saint Patrick’s Day, a bubble blowing concert or having their own, age and mobility appropriate Olympics. Daily happy hours with entertainment too!

Even though I am now 5600 miles away from my mom, I have no concerns – she is being well cared for, and she is happy. She couldn’t have chosen better place to be.”

“My father arrived in February at the Kensington after breaking his femur at Thanksgiving at my home. He rehabbed after surgery at 2 different places for 2 months and was starting to really fail. After 2 months at the Kensington, he not only is up and walking again after being bedridden practically, he’s made great friends in the community, loves his caregivers and loves the environment! The activities great and the dining room reminds me of a country club setting. He’s about to turn 89 and has decided the Kensington is his home now. His transformation has been incredible and we are so grateful to Robert and his fantastic staff. Every person who works there is special and cares for residents like they are family. We feel incredibly lucky to have found the Kensington!”

I’m not certain I can put into words how grateful my family and I are for all of the love, support and incredible care that our father has received from the Kensington Redondo Beach Team. Although he has only been a resident for two short months, he is proud to call this place his home and is thriving, both physically and mentally. Between the beautiful property & rooms / the amazing Mgnt Team / Doctors, Nurses, Care Givers, PT / the incredible activities (Art / Daily Music & HH’s / Excursions / Movies / Physical Therapy / the list goes on and on) this is a place where loved ones and families feel can feel a sense of happiness, comfort and peace. Not to mention, it’s fun! My family and I love visiting, as do our friends. I would give Kensington Redondo Beach 10 Stars if I could! A huge thank you to the whole team for all that you do!”

“We moved my parents into The Kensington Redondo Beach six months ago. Crystal and Kelly helped me throughout the move-in process and gave me great advice including emotional support as this transition can be difficult. The staff including nursing, care partners, dining, concierge, activities and management work extremely hard to care for my mom and they all know her by name. I have NEVER heard anyone say “that’s not my job”. If a resident has a question or request, they don’t hesitate to help regardless of their position. Their focus and charter is not just keeping my mom healthy and physically comfortable but interacting with her and making her feel special and cared for. My mom is also in “The Kensington Club” in assisted living which focuses on brain activities and I’ve noticed improvements in her cognitive abilities. The concierge is extremely helpful in directing my mom and answering her questions while juggling multiple tasks! I’m so grateful for the staff who show a genuine concern for her and care for her like their own family but with much more experience and wisdom on solving the issues of the aged.”

“My father has been at the Kensington for four years now, and we just celebrated is 101st birthday. Though still very sharp mentally, his physical abilities have declined dramatically over this time. We feel so fortunate to have the Kensington as a partner as he lives out his remaining years.

We are grateful in particular for the excellence of the staff, at both the physical and emotional aspects of his care as he’s now totally dependent on them for his most basic needs. He’s made some true friends here among the staff, and so have we. The Kensington is hitting a home run with their staff vetting and recruiting process.

Beyond the staff, the amenities are fantastic. They go the extra mile to make him, and us his children, comfortable. Things like being generous with the transportation they provide for appointments and our ability to simply enjoy a meal with him in the dining room (or outdoors by the beautiful outdoor fireplace) go a long way. We also appreciate the daily events, including live music almost every day at 4pm – with really talented performers! In terms of cleanliness, they keep the place, and his room, immaculate.

If it’s not clear already, I highly recommend the Kensington – we wouldn’t want him at any other facility.”

- Robert H., Son of Resident, February 2025

“My mom has been a Kensington resident for just over a year. She’s in her early 90’s and while once sharp as the sharpest tack, is suffering with dementia.

There are so many things to really love and appreciate about The Kensington. Robert May, the Executive Director, is uniquely qualified for his role and a very caring and engaging individual. Every single staff member appears to be truly caring. They know my mother’s peculiarities (hot coffee with ice cubes to cool it down, a blanket because she’s always cold, the list goes on) and deals with them, cheerfully.

In addition to staff, a beautiful facility and food that is SO good it’s how The Kensington stratifies memory care that I find critically important. Most facilities seem to have AL (Assisted Living) and Memory Care. A resident is in one or the other, but not all dementia patients need the same level of care. The K-Club, created to support those who have some memory issues, is a wonderful program and emblematic of their approach. Mom is a K-Club member and I know she has great care and appropriate activities. Susan Stetson, who runs K-Club, is devoted to her residents and the program. I know she has my mother’s best interests at heart and is sincerely appreciated.

Caring for a beloved aging parent who is dealing with issues is a gut-wrenching, emotional experience. Knowing my mom is so well cared for at The Kensington eases each and every day.”

The Kensington is worth every penny. Our family had decided on a community that was a couple of thousand dollars cheaper than the Kensington in 2020. The old adage of “you get what you pay for” is absolutely true. The first community we used sounded great but couldn’t deliver due to understaffing. poor internal and external communication, and the lack of staff training.

The Kensington promised that they would take care of our mother as if she were their family member. We came into The Kensington with a lot of reservations. But, they have honored every promise that they made. Our mother has been residing at the Kensington since early October 2020. This is our experience.

Executive Director – Robert is welcoming and responsive to family questions and concerns. He is not only highly engaged in the operation of the community, he converses and makes connections with the residents and their families. He is an excellent communicator and runs an efficient, expertly staffed, warm community.

Concierge – The phones or staffed appropriately. I can always get through to The Kensington. The staff is friendly, caring, efficient, and reliable. Phone messages are passed on to different departments and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.

Medical Staff – There are 3 RN’s, Julie, Amy, and Sydney. There is always an RN on site. There are 24 LVN’s. And CNA care-givers. All of the medical staff have appropriate training. The internal communication between day and night staff is excellent. The medical notes are charted and referred to for changes in physical or emotional well-being. The medical staff are approachable and helpful in explaining their observations and the care being given to our mother. They are professional, caring, and helpful in helping family members obtain the appropriate medical care needed.

Director of the Memory Care – Lorrie. She runs an excellent department, staffing the unit appropriately for all the needs of the residents, keeping the residents’ well-being at the forefront of decisions made to help them have a quality life with appropriate activities and care. Lorrie has addressed every concern; she is thorough and helpful in our journey through dementia with our mother. Keith is the assistant. He is doing the job he was made to do. He has genuine care and concern for each resident as he strives to connect to each resident.

Activities Department – This staff has had a tremendous task because of COVID restrictions. Every day, there are on-going activities for the residents in Haven (moderate-severe dementia residents). Because family visitations were restricted, the team has worked very hard to keep the residents engaged and enjoying a quality of life. They facilitate family google-duo chats to keep the residents connected to their families. They send emails, texts, and post photos on slack, so that family can see how their loved ones spend their day.

Care-givers – Most of the time, our family talks to Cristal and Flo. They know our mother well, and they are very patient and kind as they spend their day with mom. My mother reports that everyone is kind and good here. They give her, her dignity and value her life in the community.

Moving in – Pat was the point person for the move-in. She is warm and caring. She helps the family through the difficulties, the sadness, and the transition to a loving place. She takes care of all the details and makes the move-in an experience that honors each resident, by tailoring it to each family.

If at all possible, spend the extra money and receive the care that is the type that you would give your own family member.”

- Debbie R., Daughter of Resident, 2024

“We found the Kensington to be what they said it would be- with care being the first priority! How refreshing! My father-in-law’s health improved steadily under their consistent care. Not that he needed anything drastic, just consistent healthcare. The staff are all so very friendly and there are so many activities to participate in! Our family has enjoyed dining with “great-grandpa” much more frequently, as it is made easy and the food is fabulous. We have realized that we can actually relax now that he is at Kensington- what a stress reducer! Thank you!”

- Eileen J., Daughter-in-Law of Resident, 2024

“The Kensington Redondo Beach is a truly exceptional and beautiful community. All of the staff from the care team members, to nursing to dining all go above and beyond in their attentiveness. My MIL has been there for 2 years, and her life is full and she is truly well cared for. The team there makes what can be a difficult transition much easier. A heartfelt thank you to the executive team and all the staff for being so wonderful.”
