Gently and slowly introduce the idea of your parents moving-over time and before the need becomes urgent. Avoid being demanding so parents don’t respond with resistance. Emphasize your concern for their best interests, and be positive when describing the benefits of a move. Enlist the support of a doctor, social worker or clergyman if that helps. Include your parents in the decision. Take a tour together at a time of day when they are less fatigued and more receptive. Alert the team if your parents are struggling with the idea of a move so they can offer support.
